Bluetooth API によって、Palm OS Bluetooth システムへのアクセスと Bluetooth が利用可能なアプリケーションを書くことが可能になります。Bluetooth 開発が可能になるのに加えて、Palm OS Bluetooth システムは以下のことも提供します。
*デバイスの検索と接続のためのユーザインターフェイス
*パスキー入力のためのユーザインターフェイス
*Bluetooth サポートのために修正された Palm 接続パネル
*Bluetooth 仮想シリアルドライバを利用したシリアルポートエミュレーション
*Bluetooth Exchange ライブラリを利用したオブジェクト交換のサポート
このドキュメントでは、Palm OS Bluetooth APIの利用法についてはカバーしますが、Bluetooth コードを書くのに必要とされるであろう Bluetooth コンセプトとプロトコルの基本的な理解は提供しません。Bluetooth について詳しくは、Bluetooth Special Interest Group website（http://www.bluetooth.com）で利用できる ''Specification of the Bluetooth System'' を参照して下さい。有用な Bluetooth 情報が必要なら、サードパーティ製の本もあります。
